What is the Endocannabinoid System?

It acts as a biological regulator to help ensure that our body systems function optimally.

Why is the endocannabinoid system important ?

The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is important because it regulates many essential processes in the body that help maintain balance and health (homeostasis). The EKS includes cannabinoid receptors (CB1 and CB2), endocannabinoids such as anandamide, and enzymes that regulate the levels of these substances in the body. This system is involved in many important bodily functions, including:
